THE Dendron Dialogues. Brought to you by the wind over heard by me Featuring Fircus and Ash
PRO skip the prologue go to dialogues (but you're going to miss the subtleties)
Fircus and Ash were planted around two years ago as part of some landscape-architect's vision. They enjoy a view of the river which flows nearby. Between them and the river ,there lies a cement walk way. Bikers, joggers,roller-bladers and dog-walkers are a built in part of their daily panorama. Lucky little trees; they are watered, fed, sprayed and pruned according to the gardener's schedule. They will never have to fend for themselves as do their wild brethren growing in the nearby woods.
The undisputed King of the yard is called, "The big Guy." He is a VERY old Sequoia; here when this land was used by sheep farmers and way before that. The river remembers. Developers came in allowing the lucky few to live by this grand river. Others come to it's banks to fish . Kids occasionally swing off a rope tied to one of the old trees on the opposite shore. Every now and then, a canoe or kayak glides by. Sometimes, even a motor boat but there aren't many of those.
If I look out my window, I see Fircus to the left of Ash. Although a fence separates them, this in no way inhibits their free-flow of thoughts and observations . To my right down away is a highway bridge with non-stop traffic rushing by. It's a constant (and yes ...noisy) reminder that the natural beauty we behold on a daily basis is not to be taken for granted.
I am awed by "The Big Guy," and ever aware of the privedge bestowed upon me of riparian time-sharing with this mystical pillar. He and the river will be here when the rest of us are gone. Keeps everything nicely in perspective- doesn't it.
Meanwhile, though, let's have a little fun with our two light-hearted and basically clueless ,high-maintenance dendrons (with decorator shades no less.)
